Elmatec offers a wide range of filters to suit your specific needs and requirements. Cartridge filtration is a separation process that aims to retain particles (e.g. suspended solids, colloids, etc.) contained in a fluid. The fluid is filtered through a porous medium, the cartridge, under pressure. Only particles smaller than the pore diameters pass through the media. Sterilizing filtration is achieved when low cut-off levels are reached to retain microorganisms (according to ASTM F838-15).
Nominal and absolute filtration
Filtration performance is characterized by distinguishing between nominal and absolute filtration. Nominal filtration provides a broader distribution tolerance for a given filtration grade. Absolute filtration is characterized by a very low variability of the average pore diameter.
Depth cartridges and pleated cartridges
Each filter has its own characteristics in terms of construction, filter media, grade, dimensions, end pieces and is therefore specific for each use.
