Besides textiles, Embro also excels in manufacturing dry preforms to produce fiber-reinforced plastic. Out of a few companies, we use the Tailored Fiber Placement process. Carbon rovings are laid on onto a base substrate where any given direction between 0° and 360° is realizable. This process, called roving, makes it possible to create three-dimensional fiber structures. Our preforms are suited for further processing with thermoplastic and thermosetting procedures such as resin wet-out.
Defined areas can be reinforced by the repeated placement of fibers. Thus, composite technology has a high potential for saving material cost if compared to the use of woven, braided, or knitted materials.
Material selection is absolutely free in this process. Among many materials, we process aramids, glass and carbon fibers. A combination of different materials is possible too. The automated and most precise fiber placement guarantees high tensile strength right where your product needs it.
