A vertical, fixed strapping machine for binding bundles consisting of aluminium packages, equipped with a strapping head including a strap launch and recovery device, devices for tensioning, for welding and, finally, for cutting the strap. The strap launch/recovery device operates with a reversible unit on which a POLYESTER strap can be used, from 12 to 19 mm wide, from 0.6 to 1.27 mm thick. To the strapping machine can be added devices fitted with pockets for manual or automatic placement of wood battens on the four sides of the bundle during strapping. Strap unwinding speed depends on the strapping unit speed. Unwinding and recovery take place continually and with no problems, since the strap is tensioned due to the weight of the mobile rollers unit.
