Plasma marking uses a low-current, constricted arc to create lines or text on the plate surface. It offers the advantages of speed and versatility with variable line width and depth. Plasma can mark on wet, oily or rusted surfaces, and is an excellent method of marking text on mild steel or stainless steel.
Plasma marking is accomplished using:
•ESAB’s m3 Plasma® system with the gas control automatically set to argon gas for marking and the current set to a marking current range. Marking is performed using the same nozzles used for cutting, so moving between marking and cutting is completely automated.
• A stand-alone plasma marking system equipped with a low amperage power supply and a dedicated torch. This system can be used on machines without plasma or when the application calls for a dedicated marking tool.
