They are suitable for nearly all esd's CAN devices. The CAN-GND signal is connected to cable shield to protect the differential signal against electromagnetic influences. Tappings at the main bus cable can be realized with T-connectors in order to insert CAN nodes. The recommended length for stub lines is 0.3 m. Both ends of the CAN net have to be terminated externally via 120 Ω termination. esd offers CAN-Repeater with two or three ports and electrical isolation as an option to fit all needs of installation. The I-Repeater can be used to improve the user capacity of the CAN, or to add an electrical isolation (only with ‘-Opto’ design). The Y-Repeater branches from one to two CAN lines.
