ETAP StarZ module provides several tools to examine the performance of distance relay settings, user logics, analog and digital interfaces to instrument transformers, circuit breakers, isolator switches, and other protective devices. ETAP StarZ device protection and coordination evaluation software offers an intuitive and logical approach to RX element characteristic analysis with features and capabilities such as an easy-to-use graphical user interface, accurate protective device modeling, device settings report creation, and embedded analysis modules, all within an integrated, rule-based design. Using intelligent one-line diagrams, comprehensive protective device libraries, and a three-dimensional database, ETAP StarZ offers insight into troubleshooting false trips, relay mis-operation, and mis-coordination. StarZ can perform common distance relay studies as well as evaluate the impact of isolator switch or circuit breaker status on distance relay performance. Once the relay is selected from library, the ETAP distance relay module automatically adjusts and updates the available relay elements for plotting. Users can graphically add any line, cable and transformer impedance characteristic to new or existing StarZ Views by simply dragging and dropping any branch or protection relay from the One-Line View (OLV) into StarZ View (RX Diagram). Relay element characteristics (RX Diagram) such as phase to ground, phase to phase, load encroachment, and directional can be plotted based on the user’s selection.
