A K-type thermocouple is a type of temperature sensor that uses the Joule effect principle to measure temperature. It is made of two different metal wires, usually in Chromel / Alumel (official designation: nickel-chromium / nickel-aluminium), which are connected at one end to form a junction.
When this junction is exposed to a different temperature than the reference, an electric current is generated that can be measured to determine the temperature.
High measuring range
Type K thermocouples have a high measuring range, up to 1200°C.
Reliability
Type K thermocouples are generally considered reliable and stable over time.
Cost
Generally less expensive than other types of thermocouples, they make them an economical choice for applications requiring good measurement accuracy at high temperatures.
