An N-type thermocouple is a type of temperature sensor that uses the Joule effect principle to measure temperature. It is made of two different metal wires, usually in Nicrosil – Nisil (official designation: nickel-chromium-silicon / nickel-silicon), which are connected at one end to form a junction.
When this junction is exposed to a different temperature than the reference, an electric current is generated that can be measured to determine the temperature.
High operating temperature
The Type N thermocouple can measure temperatures up to 1250°C, making it an ideal choice for high temperature applications
Resistance to corrosion
The Type N thermocouple is made of a combination of materials that provide increased corrosion resistance.
High accuracy
The N-type thermocouple is capable of providing accurate temperature measurements even under high temperature conditions.
Resistance to oxidation
Made with materials that have good resistance to oxidation, it is used in high temperature applications where other types of thermocouples could oxidize.
