The locomotive is designed to transport materials and men on railway tracks of 750-900 mm spacing. It is adjusted to work in methane and/or coal dust explosion hazard areas. It has a multi-body structure with the engine room and two driver cabins, mounted on two torsional driving trucks as its basic subassemblies. Thus, the locomotive can perform well on bends and does not show any tendencies to leave the tracks. The design of the driving truck ensures a constant and even load distribution among all wheels and the operational pulling strength of the locomotive is higher than in two-axle locomotives.
