FARO Focus Laser Scanners and the FARO ScanPlan 2D Handheld Mapper add a cryptographic digital signature to scans immediately after they are created. The signature is based on a hash of the scan data and makes it possible to later verify whether the recorded scan data was modified after the scan was created. The hash value of a scan can be manually checked on the scanner GUI’s Scan Properties page or the ScanPlan GUI’s Sign Project page. With the FARO Scan Verification Tool, it is possible to verify this digital signature to ensure that the scans were not modified after they were captured.
The FARO Scan Verification Tool works with the following FARO products:
6.3.0 version of the FARO Focus Laser Scanner firmware (check if your version supports hashing)
2019.0 version of the FARO ScanPlan firmware
