Two different electromagnetic devices can be used to handle plates:
• Classic rectangular electromagnets.
• Electro-permanent rectangular devices.
In case of classic rectangular electromagnets, the magnet weight has been reduced as much as possible by simplifying its construction. These magnets are capable of handling both one plate at time and several at once, depending on the thickness of the plates to handle.
We offer a wide range of magnets widths and lengths to adapt to the different existing plate dimensions. Depending on the plate dimensions, one or more electromagnets are supplied and then mounted on a fixed or telescopic beam. The latter can be supplied with an electro-hydraulic or mechanical drive along with the crane hoists for opening and closing the arms of the beam.
Electro-permanent lifting devices provide a maximum safety since the force is exerted exclusively by permanent magnets. A short Direct Current pulse changes the magnet magnetising direction, thus achieving two stable states in time: MAGNETISED and DE-MAGNETISED. There are two models available: for single plate handling and for handling several plates at once (mass production).
Both the electromagnets and electro-permanent devices come with electrical equipment; they are supplied in a metallic cabinet including the following features:
• Emergency lead or Nickel-Cadmium batteries capable of keeping the load in suspension for an average of 20 minutes in the event of a power cut (only for electromagnets).
• RST transport safety system with pre-magnetising to 65% of the power.
• Luminous and sound signaling systems.
• Automatic opening and closing arms system in case of telescopic guiding beams.
