Moldy and brettanomyces off-flavors are a challenge faced by winemakers. These undesirable aromas stem from unwanted microbial activities in vineyard or cellar. They can mask the authentic flavors of your wine, resulting in inconsistency and unappealing profiles. This includes off-flavors like medicinal, horsey, barnyard, cheesy and a metallic and astringent aftertaste. A selective wine treatment with LIBRASORB® MX technology. LIBRASORB® MX technology sets a new wine treatment standard, selectively removing off-flavors while preserving the wine‘s essence. With highly selective filter aids embedded in the depth filter sheets and a controlled flow at 150 L/m2/h, a selective treatment, a fine filtration, and a germ reduction can all be achieved in one filtration step. The result is a wine revealing its orginal characteristics, allowing for adjustable blend rates, and a potential premium status recovery for downgraded wines. LIBRASORB® MX media is available in a wide range of sheet formats and as lenticular modules, which allows for application in commonly available depth filter systems. Aromas analysis before and after treatment The graph shows the concentration of selected aroma compounds (more than twenty analyzed) of a wine before and after treatment with LIBRASORB® MX. None of the desired aroma compounds examined showed a significant difference.
