Plummer blocks are made up of a bearing insert and a bearing housing made of gray cast iron or cast steel, thus forming easy-to-maintain and ready-to-mount units. The spherical design of the bearing insert allows them to adjust to any tilting of the shaft. Plummer block are particularly well-suited for high radial loads and are very robust against external resistance thanks to their gray cast iron form. Horizontal installation allows maximum load capacity to be achieved. In the case of vertical or suspended placement, you need to take into account reductions in the maximum load.
Available bearing inserts
Housings can be combined with other bearing inserts.
Housing bearings and their inserts are generally provided with initial lubrication ex works. We therefore do not recommend lubricating the bearings with a large quantity of grease again after installation and before putting them into operation.
Tip: After installation, it is possible to check whether the relubrication feature is working properly by carrying out a lubrication attempt. If the lubricant leaks between the housing and the bearing insert, please check to ensure that the bearing insert is positioned correctly in the housing.
Housings are made of gray cast iron according to EN-GIL-200/250 as standard. If higher strength properties are required, housings according to EN-GJS-400/450/500 are available.
Stainless steel housings are made of AISI304 or AISI316 and are therefore also highly resistant to salt water.
Plastic housing bearings are made of a technical polymer, which can also have anti-bacterial properties, depending on the requirements.
