High Velocity Air Fuel utilizes a lower temperature flame than HVOF, which is friendlier to the carbide and metallic powders we apply as coatings. Friendlier means less decarburization for carbides (harder, more ductile coatings), less oxidation for metallics (improved cohesive strength and improved corrosion resistance) and higher overall coating density (less permeable in aqueous application environments).
HVAF can also apply either very thin or very thick coatings based on the improved density and the ability to control or tailor residual stress to meet specific application requirements.
