AKRIL 3000 is a one part sealant based on a water dispersion of acrylic resins. White only just applied, it turns to transparent when dried. Has the consistency of a paste and can be tooled whilst still wet and cures producing a rubbery, permanently flexible material, with good resistance to weathering, UV light and ageing. It can be applied onto temporary damp materials. Overpaintable. The sealant has a satisfactory adhesion to most materials used in building, such as concrete, plaster, wood, metals, glass.
Typical uses
For tiles installation.
• For sealing perimeter joints of door and window frames.
Properties
Base material : polyacrylic resins in water dispersion
Consistency : tixotropic, non-slumping paste
Method of use
Surfaces preparation: joint surfaces should be free from dust and grease. Temporary moist conditions of substrates do not affect adhesion. In case of highly porous surfaces it is recommended to use diluted AKRIL 3000 as a primer at brushable consistency.
Joint dimensions: minimum joint width 6x6 mm, maximum 25x20 mm. Joints expected to accommodate movements have to be dimensioned so that maximum extension of sealant does not exceed 20%. For correctly dimensioning deep joints and to provide a joint back on to which the sealant will not adhere, insert into joints a suitable backing material having release properties such as our FILTENE, a closed cell polyethylene foam profile.
Application: apply the sealant by extruding it without interruption into the joint and assuring overall contact with the joint sides. Tooling of sealant surface can be done by means of a wet pool.
