PROCESS
Oxyfuel cutting is an industrial thermal process which a mixture of oxygen and the fuel gas is used to preheat the metal to its “auto ignition” temperature while a jet of pure oxygen is directed into the preheated area instigating an exothermic chemical reaction between the oxygen and the metal.
Only metals whose oxides have a lower melting point than the base metal itself can be cut with this process. O nly low carbon steel and some low alloys meet condition and can be cut effectively with the oxy-fuel process.
