The HVC 120 platform offers a range of metal-working solutions, not just outstanding spindles. The platform concept serves mold makers and provides micromilling capabilities for the medical industry.
The HVC 120 spindle platform accommodates housing diameters as small as 120mm, with speeds from 48,000 to 75,000 rpm, moderate power from 6.5 to 10 kW S1 and torque from 1.5 to 2.7 Nm S1. Twin Air Sealing (TAS) broadens application suitability to include contamination-free production in dirt-sensitive materials such as graphite. The extreme roundness of our shafts – produced in house – aids in creating superior surface finishes up to Ra = 0.02 μm. Built-in acceleration sensor maintains compliance and process safety while it speeds up part approval.
Monitoring options
The Spindle Diagnostic Module (SDM; black box), combined with Step-Tec's patented acceleration sensor, records all process-relevant data, including vibration along three axes. SDM also monitors and time stamps collision events > 30g.
Compensation
Any undetected spindle movement or temperature increase can cause inaccuracies and flawed surface quality on the finished workpiece. Step-Tec provides various monitoring options for machine compensation, including several resistance thermometers, placement for traditional thermal compensation and optional Axial Movement Sensor (AMS). The combination of these data-acquisition capabilities with Step-Tec's outstanding thermal stability offers the best possible machine compensation to achieve outstanding precision and surface finishes.
