The HVC 140 platform offers a broad range of metal-working solutions, not just outstanding spindles. The platform concept serves mold makers and inner grinding applications.
The HVC 140 spindle platform accommodates housing diameters as small as 140mm, with speeds from 10,000 to 42,000 rpm, moderate power from 3 to 10 kW S1 and torque from 3 to 16 Nm S1. The Opticool system and COOL-Core technology provide polar temperature stability for repeatable, reliable machining processes. For multiple-process machining, including grinding and milling, P2-quality bearings back the stiff bearing assignment to yield minimal runout. The Spindle Exchange Program (SEP) guarantees no more than 24 hours of downtime (EU) to maximize machine availability and minimize capital investment in spindles.
Monitoring options
The Spindle Diagnostic Module (SDM; black box), combined with Step-Tec's patented acceleration sensor, records all process-relevant data, including vibration along three axes. SDM also monitors and time stamps collision events > 30g.
Compensation
Any undetected spindle movement or temperature increase can cause inaccuracies and flawed surface quality on the finished workpiece. Step-Tec provides various monitoring options for machine compensation, including several resistance thermometers, placement for traditional thermal compensation and optional Axial Movement Sensor (AMS). The combination of these data-acquisition capabilities with Step-Tec's outstanding thermal stability offers the best possible machine compensation to achieve outstanding precision and surface finishes.
