In case of fire if the smoke and heat are discharged to atmosphere in a controlled manner, fire-fighters can work more comfortly in rescuing, cooling and extinguishing processes. Smoke and heat of fire will be discharged before spreading to other areas and therefore the products, systems and building components in the whole building will not be damaged and the total damge will be reduced. Acceleration of fire will be reducued by preventing the accumulation of heat inside and the products and systems in the ambient will not be allowed to reach to combustion temperature. Toxic gases will not be allowed to remain inside. Static of structure will not be distorted by preventing accumulated heat to effect to structural components. In single-storey buildings, indoor parking garages, underground transportation systems, dome architectures and big shaft and elevator well without positive pressurization, accumulation of heat and smoke in the upper altitudes happens very quickly. If smoke and heat won’t discharged with dampers, smoke collapses down and spreads horizontally and steel structure carriers’ properties deteriorate.
The operating mechanism/s are incorporated in the upper part of the damper where they are protected from smoke and high temperatures.
- Automatic operation (closing) and resetting (opening) by means of
a servomotor (CE Marking):
SSD smoke extract dampers are operated and reset by means of a servomotor with a supply voltage of 24 V AC/DC (model BLE24) or 230 V AC (model BLE230).
These motors include start and end of stroke limit switches to monitor the opening/closing status of the damper.
