These rotary switches share the same sensor technology: Hall effect. But their outputs differ substantially. The 68A provides digital quadrature output, similar to other Grayhill encoders. The 68P provides a proportional analog output, similar to a potentiometer. Both benefit from non-contact Hall effect technology.
