GRELBEX indirect rotary dryers allow industrial drying of any powdered solid by indirectly contacting the product with hot gases.
They are designed to guarantee reliable operation, high efficiency, maximum industrial availability and low maintenance. These operating criteria make our rotary dryers a wise choice for drying powdered solids.
Indirect rotary dryers consist of a cylinder ("drum" or "calender") which rotates slowly and evenly on two supports ("bands"). The cylinder is driven by an electric or hydraulic motor. The cylinder incorporates a network of tubes through which a heating fluid (often steam) circulates.
As the cylinder rotates, the product moves slowly forward, coming into contact with the hot surface of the tubes and losing its moisture as it passes through.
These dryers are designed for high throughputs (a few tens of tons per hour) and high processing temperatures (100-300°C), and enable solids to be processed gently and slowly. They are particularly well-suited to the treatment of vegetable matter or food products.
It's also worth noting that these dryers are integrated into thermal processes that need to be optimized. There are numerous options for recovering energy from the drying air stream after the process (recycling, condensation, cooling, separation, etc.). This enables the overall operation of the plant to be optimized.
