In high-voltage substations, many components are made of "hot-dip galvanized" steel, which has been immersed in molten zinc to protect it from corrosion.
GALVAGRID® RUST-ANODE® is a revolutionary anti-corrosion solution. Developed with NATO in the 1960s and later re-engineered for civilian use in the 2000s, this technology ensures active cathodic protection and fuses with raw steel, both old and new, enhancing the cathodic protection of galvanized and/or metallized steel.
Application:
GALVAGRID® is applied at room temperature using a roller, brush, or spray gun.
GALVAGRID® Solutions for Various Needs:
Recharging GALVAGRID® on old structures:
If a hot-dip galvanized structure has lost or nearly lost its zinc coating and begins to rust, applying GALVAGRID® at room temperature will recharge the existing galvanization or coat bare steel.
GALVAGRID® DUPLEX™ System:
When the corrosion class increases, approaching class C5 (C5H, C5VH), especially in saline environments, hot-dip galvanization degrades faster, reducing the protection's lifespan from several decades to just a few years. By applying GALVAGRID® DUPLEX™ to a new galvanized structure, either in the factory or on-site, you can double the anti-corrosion system's lifespan, enabling the use of hot-dip galvanized steel in environments previously deemed unsuitable.
This innovation extends the usability and durability of galvanized steel, even in the most challenging environments.
