Phenolic V-Grooved Wheels
Running V-Grooved Wheels on inverted angle iron track is a popular and low-cost method of taking loads off the floor and creating production-line flow. A relief groove in the "V" assures proper weight distribution and makes wheel and track "self-cleaning," while a partial flat-tread permits rolling the wheels directly on floors as well.
However, proper adjustment of tapered bearings precludes side-to-side wheel play.
To avoid the necessity for perfectly parallel tracks, directional control can be achieved by using a single track on one side only, and running flat-tread wheels of matching height on the opposite side.
