HMS II.6 is an Artificial Head Measurement System which is equipped with free-field microphones instead of IEC-711 ear simulators. It is therefore especially suited for measurements of sound sources far from the ear (e.g. hands-free terminals) in sending and receiving direction.
In this respect HMS II.6 is a cost-effective alternative to HMS II.3. However, HMS II.6 is not suited for measurements of sound sources close to the ear (such as headphones, headsets, handsets).
HMS II.6 is a simulation of the human anatomy reduced to the acoustically relevant structures, allowing a recording and playback technology which corresponds to realistic conditions of use of hands-free terminals and other communication devices.
