Diebold has been producing shrink fit units in various designs for over two decades. The new device series US 1100 were developed to meet the constant market requirements and process optimization.
In the previous devices and also in the new devices of the US 1100 series, parameters for safe shrinking are stored. The operator must identify the tool holder and select the appropriate parameters. If the parameters are not selected correctly, the tool holder may overheat when shrinking. The holder can then no longer be used.
The new US 1100 devices can be equipped with an innovative coil with built-in TempControl, a temperature sensor that monitors the surface temperature of the tool holder during heating. In the past this was not possible because it was impossible to measure the temperature of the tool holder from outside the induction coil. With TempControl the jacket temperature of the shrink fit chuck is now recorded. Unintentional overheating of the tool holder is avoided without the need to preselect the chuck configuration, whether slim, standard or reinforced. An automatic heating and switch-off process is integrated in the technology. The solution is the “pyrometer”. When the jacket temperature is reached, the coil automatically shuts off or maintains the required temperature. Each shrinking device of the US 1100 series can optionally be equipped with the pyrometer coil and TempControl. Without pyrometer technology, shrinking with specified parameters is the classic procedure.
