Your drill body. Our chamfering module. Your time-saving.
Perform both drilling and chamfering at the same time in just one operation
Reduce the number of individual tools and working steps and thus process times and costs
Can be installed close to the drill head due to the compact size of the module
Range
The new SNAP module is used in drill bodies from Ø18.0mm. Despite its small dimensions, the SNAP module produces chamfers ranging from 0.5 to 1.0mm – depending on the blade used. The blades are available with various coatings depending on the workpiece material and can be exchanged in just a few quick steps using an assembly tool.
Construction
The compact design of the module has very few wearing parts. The module is extremely compact at just 16.0 x 3.5 x 5.0 mm.
To accomodate the SNAP module, the existing drill body is to be modified with a pocket by the customer (in consultation with the drill body manufacturer). The module is fixed to the drill body with a single screw. To enable higher feed rates and further optimise the process time, two modules can be integrated in one drill body. It is not possible to integrate the modules into solid carbide drills.
Due to the compact size of the chamfering module, it can be installed directly behind the drill head. This reduces traverse distances, allows drilling and chamfering to be carried out simultaneously, enables longer drilling depths and reduces obstruction by chips during chamfering.
Process steps
In a single operation, the bore is produced with chamfers on both of its edges. This process is completed without rotating the workpiece or changing tools.
