The shaft furnace and the retort furnace are ideally suited for the heat treatment of slim small parts or for finishing by nitriding, carbonitriding or carburizing, for example.
Shaft furnace S or SL
A shaft furnace is an ideal furnace for the heat treatment of suspended workpieces and small parts. For example, it is ideally suited for soft annealing and hardening of aluminum and for tempering of steel.
Electrical heating is provided by HOFMANN's patented vertical heating modules (Pat-No. 374918), which are particularly distinguished by their long service life.
Due to their natural circulating air (chimney effect), these vertically arranged heaters guarantee high temperature accuracy throughout the furnace, even in the case of shaft furnaces without a circulating air blower. For larger shaft depths, the heating modules arranged one above the other are divided into controllable zones.
Retort furnace SLR
The retort furnace is a variant with a sealed, gas-tight firing chamber (retort). Retort furnaces are suitable for heat treatment in a controlled, closed atmosphere. Accordingly, they are used for carburizing, nitriding and carbonitriding.
The HOFMANN retort furnace meets the highest requirements regarding insulation, heating element, service life and gas-tight design of the retort, good air circulation and temperature accuracy.
Patented, long-life vertical heating modules from HOFMANN, are also used in retort furnaces. Due to the vertical design, undesirable radiator deformations can be avoided with these modules.
