Xylan®
Xylan® Coating is a family of fluoropolymer coatings designed for use on various types of OEM components and fasteners. Most Xylan® coatings contain PTFE or other types of lubricants and are applied in thin films. Xylan® provides lubrication and controlled friction, wear resistance, heat resistance, nonstick and release properties and, at the same time, can also protect from corrosion. Xylan is a combination of low-friction fluoropolymer compounds in a matrix of strong, stable organic polymers. Whether the application is corrosion resistance, chemical attack, galvanic corrosion, reducing make-up torque, anti-galling or color coding of sub-sea connectors, we have a wide range of solutions giving unrivalled performance and allow the use of less exotic metals which has a major cost benefit. The application of a coating to threaded fasteners can substantially reduce make up torque and deliver far more reliable tensioning during installation. Coatings of Xylan offer many benefits for offshore service. These include resistance to corrosion and chemical attack, superb subsea visibility, lower maintenance costs and less downtime. Xylan coatings have been the first choice of many engineers in the offshore industry for more than 30 years. Industrial Metal Finishing is a Whitford Approved Coating applicator.
