Description

Indium oxide doped with tin oxide, ITO, is used to make transparent conductive coatings. It is one of the most widely used transparent conducting oxides because of its electrical conductivity and optical transparency. It can be deposited as a thin film very easily, increasing the thickness will increase the material conductivity but decrease its transparency. Typical applications of ITO coated substrates include: Touch screen technology Electrodes for LCD Electrochromic displays Energy conserving windows Aircraft windshields Gas sensors Antistatic window coatings ITO coating has superior conductivity and transparency and stability. ITO can also be used as an infrared reflecting coating to reflect heat energy such as in low E glass and in low pressure sodium lamps.
