Building on Kontron's successful VX3058 and designed in alignment with the SOSA™ Technical Standard, the VX305C-40G 3U VPX Single Board Computer leverages the new VITA 65 (OpenVPX) SLT3-PAY-1F1F2U1TU1T1U1T-14.2.16 I/O intensive slot profile to bring 40 Gigabit Ethernet performance to 3U systems. Using the highly integrated 12-core Intel® Xeon® D processor, the VX305C-40G complements the 40 Gigabit Ethernet Data Plane (40GBASE-KR4) with a 4-lane PCI Express 3.0 expansion plane, dual 10 Gigabit Ethernet Control Plane (10GBASE-KR), and a rich assortment of user I/O including SAT III, USB (2 and 3), serial links, video (HDMI, with DisplayPort available in 2019), GPIO, and an XMC site with backplane user mapping. As a result, it is a SWaP-C optimized computing platform suitable for a wide range of applications. The ITAR-free VX305C-40G is the first instance of a new fully-defined OpenVPX SBC profile designed for I/O intensive workloads in Open System Architecture systems.
VX305C-40G brings server class applications into the battlefield
Typical programs are :
Radar, sonar
Imaging systems
Airborne fighter and UAV radar
Programs requiring long term support in harsh environments
Rugged By Design
The high-performance VX305C-40G is available in both air-cooled (for lab or other benign deployed environments) and conduction-cooled Plug-in units as per VITA 48.2 Type 2, Secondary Side Retainer. This enables the VX305C-40G to sustain 70°C card edge temperature according to VITA 47 XMC support.
