The Crease tester CTB-02 was developed for fast, precise testing of the restoring forces of the tongues in packaging cut outs. Given the increasing production speed of today‘s packaging machines and the resulting shorter curing time for glued surfaces of the packaging this test can permit prevention of production stoppages and loss in quality caused by the glued packaging springing open. The strength, production direction and moisture of the paper influence the restoring forces of the groove slit at the individual tongues of the packaging cut out. To measure these forces, an un-creased packaging blank is placed manually in the CTB-02. The blank is pressed down pneumatically from above and folding the tongues by 90°. After a stipulated holding time, the restoring forces of the packaging material at all nine tongues are ascertained by individual force transducers. The values are sent to an external computer for statistical evaluation.
