The AC500 model is manufactured by Leco Corporation, and is an isoperibol calorimeter is approved by ASTM/DIN, which can quickly determine gross calorofic content of solid or liquid fuels. It is a stand-alone benchtop that utilizes a fully-integrated circulation system for compact footprint. There is a Windows®-based operating system that permits settings of all test parameters including special required ASTM or DIN calculations and corrections. The unit has fuse wire or string-ignition combustion vessel, which achieves high precision across a wide range of sample sizes and ambient conditions. The unit has two-channel correction that is possible through constant temperature monitoring in both the outer jacket and the calorimeter proper. It has an electronic thermometer accurate to 0.0001°C that records temperature every six seconds.
