Environmentally friendly, water-sensitive threads caulk up the joined strands against a pressure of up to 60 bar upon humidity longitudinally penetrating. Thus, LEONI offers a green alternative to other solutions involving silicone. The aforementioned threads operate on the basis of a “super absorbing polymer” (SAP). This material instantly starts to swell at the point of water entering, thereby immediately sealing up cavities and preventing water from further progressing into the cable. In doing so, any damage caused will be restricted to a very limited magnitude.
