Description
The SCT-3000 series of split core current sensors are ac current sensors with 4-20 ma output manufactured by Magnelab. The current transformer design for these current transformers is such that they can convert an AC input current of up to 3,000 amperes into an output of 0.333 volt. Specifically, the SCT-3000 has a variety of options for amperage rating, with the largest being 3000 amperes. To accommodate the relative large conductors, it has a 3 inch opening. AC current sensors like this one are best used on electrical installations that are already in place. This is because they can simply be snapped around the existing conductor for extra safety. Additionally, this particular model comes with a self-locking mechanism, which makes it even safer and more user friendly. It is generally used in applications such as recording, data logging, energy management, power monitoring and cost allocation.
Every current sensing transformer that Magnelab designs, including the SCT-0400 split core current transformer, which has a lower current rating of up to 75 amperes, has a number of specific features. The SCT-3000 has an up to 3,000 Amp rated current input and a 0.333 Volt output. The linearity accuracy of the device is 1 percent either way at 10 percent to 130 percent of the rated current. At 50% of rated current, the phase angle is less than 2 degrees. The device is designed to operate within the frequency range of between 50 Hz and 400 Hz. It comes with twisted pair leads measuring 8 feet as standard and, on a bare conductor, it has a maximum voltage of 600 volts. The SCT-3000 series is fully UL recognized, as well as being compliant with the CE and RoHS standards.
