“The Magnelab ACT-0073 was previously marketed as the MAG-J73C005. It is a split core current transformer that has a 500 Amp to 1,000 Amp input rating. The output on this AC current sensor is 5 Amp and it is constructed using high quality nickel lamination. Split core transformers like this one are perfect to be installed on wires that have already been installed. It easily and readily clips on around the conductor thanks to the self-locking mechanism. The AC current transformer can be used on switch gears, power meters, general sets, distributed measurement systems and control panels.
The ACT-0073 comes with up to Class 0.5 accuracy for up to 2.5VA and a Class 1 accuracy for up to 10VA. The system voltage is 720 V or 0.72 kV. It can withstand overload of 1.2 the rated current, on a continuous basis. The operating temperature range is between -20 and 70 degrees Celsius. Test voltage is 3 kV for a duration of one minute and the frequency range is between 50 Hz and 60 Hz. It is fully compliant will all necessary regulations.
Alternatively, there is the ACT-0140 AC Split-Core Current Sensor. This split core current transformer was previously sold as MAG-J141C005. The input rating is between 1,500 Amp and 2,400 Amp, with a corresponding 5 Amp output. It is also made using nickel lamination and can also be installed by easily clipping it around the existing conductor thanks to the self-locking mechanism.
The Act-0140’s accuracy is up to Class 0.5 at 1.0 VA and it has a 720 V system voltage. It has many of the same features as the ACT-0073, particularly in terms of overload withstand, operating, temperature range, test voltage and frequency range.”
