Monitoring the magnetic flux in the rotor poles of a generator allows the detection of magnetic field homogeneity anomalies.
Such a disturbance can be caused by short circuits in a pole. This failure can decrease the operating efficiency of the machine and cause strong vibrations due to magnetic unbalance.
Hall-effect sensors are used to monitor machines with a high pole count, such as hydrogenerators, turbogenerators or windturbines.
