Scan fail safety board "SafeGuard Pro" according to 60825-1
The SafeGuard Pro is also there in case there is a failure of XY galvo units to restore laser safety as quickly as possible. The board can be integrated into practically any galvo system for which the feedback signals are made available.
Since a deflection system can emit a stationary laser beam in case of a fault, all lasers must be switched off automatically or blanked, in order to avoid increasing the laser class of the laser equipment. This involves the feedback signals which are usually made available by the galvo drivers being picked up and read out. If stationary galvo axes are detected, then all modulation lines are switched off within a waiting period of approx. 20ms, and the laser emissions are thereby set to zero. If there are no modulation lines available on the lasers, then a mechanical beam switch can be set via a shutter output, which blocks the laser beam. Thus EN 60825-1 is satisfied in both cases.
The modulation outputs are activated. This means that if there is a failure of the power supply, the lasers will switch off automatically.
For servicing, an "Override" input is available, which suspends the safety function. In addition, there is an "Interlock" input on the terminal strip, which can be used for the remote control, in order, for example, to integrate an Emergency Stop switch. If the input remains open, then the laser output is switched off. If the input is bridged, then the modulation signals are approved.
