Product description
The MLX90363 is the gen II½ of Triaxis® position sensor IC. Thanks to an IMC on its surface, the monolithic device senses, in a contactless fashion, the 3 spatial components (i.e. Bx, By and Bz) of the applied magnetic flux density. This unique sensing principle applied to a position sensor results into an impressive robustness of the position signal over the mechanical (airgap, off-axis) tolerances.
The rotation of this horizontal component is sensed over a wide range (up to 360º) and processed by the on-chip DSP to ultimately report the absolute angular position of the end-of-shaft magnet.
Alternatively, through measuring individually the horizontal and vertical components, the MLX90363 is able to address linear stroke (displacement) position sensor, absolute rotary position sensor with a through-shaft magnet and also 3D "joystick" applications.
Designed to be paired with an off-the-shelf microcontroller (host), the MLX90363 relies on SPI output communication. Maximum flexibility for applications development can be accomplished with the MLX90363. The range of position sensing applications are limitless and constrained only by the imagination of the designer. 3D, rotary, linear or even mixed mode implementations can be accomplished through embedded software in the customer’s microcontroller.
