Developed by Merck Millipore, the Millicell-ERS (Electrical Resistance System) measures membrane potential & resistance of epithelial cells in culture reliably and accurately. It qualitatively determines monolayer health and then quantitatively computes cell confluence. Each electrode has a silver/ silver chloride pellet on its tip which is used to measure the voltage. As the electrodes are minute in size, the user can measure transepithelial voltage and the resistance of cells growing on microporous membranes without difficulty.
