Silicone gaskets encapsulated FEP - PFA PTFE. In toric, rectancugarl and oval format and with camlok closures in Merefsa we have several models of encapsulated silicone gaskets.
Encapsulated Boards of FEP or PFA with FKM or EPDM silicone, used as seals, both in O-ring, square, rectangular, oval and for Camlok type closures, either solid or hollow, with no diameter limit on the O-rings.
When to use encapsulated silicone gaskets?
In some applications such as food contact processes, chemical, pharmaceutical processes, etc; the use of conventional rubbers is prohibited. Corrosion or high temperatures can have devastating effects on the O-rings, causing premature aging and no longer securing the seal, in these cases it is advisable to use encapsulated silicone gaskets.
When to use FKM encapsulated gaskets?
In those applications where high corrosion, as well as high and low temperatures are present or the use of conventional rubbers is prohibited, being in contact with acids, solvents, hydrocarbons, etc. These phenomena can have devastating effects on the sealing gaskets, causing premature deterioration and ceasing to ensure the sealing, in these cases it is advisable to use the FKM encapsulated O-rings.
Comparison of materials for toric:
O-rings in Pure PTFE: PTFE is inert and provides fantastic chemical resistance, but since it is a rigid plastic with virtually no memory, it cannot be used as a compression joint and once disassembled, it will no longer ensure tightness.
PTFE sandwich joints: Despite being economical joints, by design the possibility of permeability on the sides, make it a weak joint and that chemical agents can attack it quickly.
