Even low levels of vibration can reduce the ability to perform the passenger’s sedentary activities to a considerable extent.
The Ride Quality Measurement System implements an Inertial Technology by means of accelerometers placed on the axle box, on the bogie and on the vehicle body.
Inertial-Based
The system monitors and measures all the parameters describing the dynamic behavior of the vehicle with respect to track stresses in order to provide valid information regarding the safety and quality conditions of the Running Dynamics. These parameters are the vertical and transversal accelerations computed at different suspension levels (on the vehicle body, on the bogie frame and on the axle box) and monitored in real time, automatically, with high precision and at high speeds. Combination of acquired parameters allows to calculate quality indexes like Ride Quality in agreement with many international regulation (UIC 518).
