LORD MicroStrain presents microminiature gauging DVRT® as part of its displacement sensors. It has been developed for use in narrow areas. It provides excellent performance in a compact unit. The spring-loaded tip is guided by a sapphire bearing and sapphire ball. These ensure a highly smooth dynamic and static response.
The micro-gauging DVRTs have several features. These include resolution of micron to sub-micron, linear analog output, flat dynamic response to kHz levels, and ultra low temperature coefficients. The captive cores are compact and lightweight, yet very sturdy. The sensors feature super elastic alloys with excellent resistance to corrosion. These alloys provide protection from permanent deformation and kinking. They also enable short-term immersion of the device. Based on specific customer needs, it is possible to custom build the units provided for long-term submersion.
Micro-gauging DVRTs® are perfect for applications requiring sensing arrays having minimal space between them. Using the clamping collar mounting method, it is possible to readily implement sensor arrays of only 5 mm center-to center spacing. Using this system, the sensor and test items are also protected from too much applied force or over-range displacement.
