BlastPED ST (also known as BlastPED EXEL) has been developed for use in open pit mines to provide an alternative to safety fuse and cable based firing systems.
The BlastPED ST System allows remote, centralised blasting using a radio based link between the shot firer and blast site. The main difference betweenBlastPED STand other versions of BlastPED, is the remote is used to directly initiate signal tube, rather than initiate electric detonators (caps).
BlastPED ST has been designed with safety as a prime criteria. The BlastPED EXEL system has several levels of security and whilst the system is extremely secure, it is also simple to operate by authorised personnel.
The actual BlastPED ST System is easy to connect and operate, the user switches the Remote Receiver on, confirms it is operable, and connects the signal tube to the ‘sparker’. Once the area has been cleared of personnel and permission to fire received, the Master Control/Software operator can then turn the Controller on – from a remote and safe location – enter his PIN, and check the status of the Receiver via the encoded radio link between the units. The ARM & BLAST commands can then be transmitted.
