New AZ chip breaker range for general turning of Aluminium alloys
AZ EXPANSION
The Mitsubishi Materials chip breaker series for turning is aimed predominantly at steels, cast irons and exotic materials. The area for machining of aluminium alloys has not yet been positively approached. However with the release of the new AZ chip breaker range, it is now possible for the Mitsubishi Materials turning chip breaker series to cover all types of materials.
This new insert range uses micro-grain cemented carbide, HTi10, that can be put to effective use for machining a wide range of workpiece materials ranging from aluminium alloys through to non-metallic types.
IMPROVED BREAKER GEOMETRY
The AZ breaker range offers higher machining performance due to the new technology used to manufacture the inserts.
SUPERIOR CHIP CONTROL
A special chip breaker geometry and a high rake angle allows chips to flow smoothly over the rake face of the insert. This prevents chips from tangling around the workpiece and tool post for easier chip disposal.
SURFACE FINISHES
The combination of a high rake angle and a polished rake face prevents common problems such as welding when machining aluminium alloys. This helps to maintain high quality surface finishes.
PREVENTION OF BURRS
The AZ breaker range uses a curved cutting edge that ensures a sharp geometry. This, in combination with the use of precision ground inserts results in machining that can prevent the development of burrs for a higher overall standard of machining.
