Tape Casting is routinely used in production of thick films (as low as 10 m to as thick as 1 mm). Aqueous or organic solvent tape cast slurries are prepared and spread over a carrier surface (glass or polymer) using a precisely controlled Dr. blade. The blade can be used either stationary or moving. Drying occurs by evaporation of the solvent to produce a tape and must be done in a controlled atmosphere.
MSE Technology’s Tape Caster offers a complete system which incorporates casting with a moving blade on various substrates and a drying chamber with a temperature control. Also, the system is equipped with a tempered glass view port that is removable for product easy access.
