TECATEC PPS CW50 PL V01 natural is a carbon reinforced plastic material filled with 50 vol% carbon fibre fabric and is based on the semi-crystalline high-temperature thermoplastic polyphenylenesulfide (PPS). PPS plastic is characterised by particularly high chemical resistance and high temperature resistance. Compared to an unfilled PPS polymer, PPS composite material offers much better mechanical properties: the continuous fibre reinforced thermoplastic has over four times the stiffness of a short-fibre reinforced PPS in fibre direction at the same density. The already low creep tendency of PPS is also improved by the carbon fibre reinforcement.
The carbon fibre reinforced thermoplastic offers high dimensional stability over a broad temperature and moisture range and enables machining with the tightest tolerances. TECATEC PPS CW50 PL V01 natural has a high temperature resistance and shows a continuous service temperature of over 200 °C. Inherent flame retardant properties and resistance to acids and alkalis make PPS composite especially interesting for the transportation industries including aerospace. Compared to other high performance thermoplastics, the use of PPS yields competitive pricing.
For application where carbon fibres are not desired, Ensinger offers PPS sheets with a glass fabric reinforcement (glass filled TECATEC PPS GW50 PL V01 natural).
This composite PPS sheet is offered in thicknesses from 1 to 95 mm and dimensions within 525 x 625 mm. To minimise long and costly development times, no minimum order quantities are required for TECATEC PPS CW50 PL V01 natural.
