The »Drawing Die Inspector (DDI)« serves for the easily visual inspection of the inside surface of wire drawing dies. The high polished reflecting inside surface of wire drawing dies presents a challenge for the illumination for the visual inspection, because direct light will be reflected in a direction, which is no more visible for the microscope objective. Therefore, the image field may appear only black, if such illumination is used. The DDI uses therefore an indirectly, diffuse illumination, which provides a detailed image of the inside surface of the drawing die. The optics is a stereo zoom microscope. The magnification can be changed stepless from 6,7x to 45x. The mechanical setup was specially designed for the needs of the inspection of wire drawing dies. The viewing angle of the microscope can be adjusted for a high imaging quality for all drawing die types. The DDI is the perfect supplement for the OEG diameter gauges for the drawing die measurement.
