The alloying furnace is used for microalloying (usually continuous) of a master metal in continuous casting applications. A furnace of this type usually comprises a mixing chamber as well as a homogenizing chamber. The alloying component is added to the master metal in the mixing chamber. The resulting mix is then passed through a channel inductor and settles in the attached homogenizing chamber before it is fed to the continuous casting mould.
This kind of alloying furnace is a prominent example of the continuous casting furnaces predominantly employed in non-ferrous metal casting.
