The original Parr acid digestion vessel was introduced in the year 1969 to facilitate a low cost and simple designed PTFE lined vessel, which may be used for the daily sample preparation purposes. The acceptance of this product in the years has proved the excellent design utilities for the general digestion procedures. They operate in pressure & temperatures below 1200psig & 150°C. It can sometimes also used above 150°C. But, exceeded temperatures creates difficulties towards maintenance of the seal.
Safety rupture disc is not present in this vessel but, the bottom plate shears out to release charge when the vessel pressure exceeds 7000psig. This weak link design is suitable for prevention of a lateral burst that injures a bystander. However, it is not the right substitute to the frangible rupture disc.
