Description

The 1222LF is a low frequency charge preamplifier with built-in diagnostics. It is ideal for AE and loose parts detection applications where the preamplifier needs to be a long distance (up to 100 meters) from the AE sensor, due to extreme heat or radiation in the area of the sensor. The 1222HF is rated for up to 2 Mrad, gamma TID, radiation resistance for nuclear radiation environments. In addition to basic preamplifier functionality, the 1222LF performs other functions key to a computer automated AE system. The preamplifier gain is remotely controllable between 1 and 10 mv/pC (equivalent to 0 to 20 dB gain), based on the preamplifier voltage being fed to the preamplifier. It also has two built-in, remotely controllable test modes. The first mode, Preamplifier Signal Test (PST), initiates a preamplifier/system test that ensures that the AE system circuitry is functioning. The second test mode, Auto Sensor Test (AST), enables the operational response of a connected sensor to be characterized, as well as the response of any sensors or accelerometers in close proximity to the sensor receiving the test signal. The 1222LF preamplifier utilizes phantom powering; power is supplied via the output signal BNC, where the power and signal are combined on the center conductor of the coax cable.
